Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington

Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington is an organization of people who live in Port Washington, working together to make their town a more beautiful, environmentally sound place for themselves, for their children and grandchildren, and for generations to come. When the small group who organized Residents began a campaign to raise money, one tree led to the planting of hundreds of street trees and as the group grew in number, so did the number of projects and as the projects grew in number, so did the group. Residents has been involved in trying to head off what we believe are projects harmful to the environment, but no community group can survive on opposition alone. Most of our success as a community group comes from what we have done, not what we have stopped from happening. We are an environmental action group that crosses political, racial, religious, ethnic and economic divides and we have produced improvements that the community can see, touch and smell. The popularity of Residents is portrayed in our active membership of 10 percent of the 11050 zip code, or 1,000 out of 10,000 families.
